Mens Swimwear Shopping Tips
If you’re looking for your Father’s swim trunks, you won’t find them here. Today’s board shorts come in different lengths and use some very comfortable fabric and construction techniques to make them more than just trendy looking swimwear.
First on our list is Micro Suede. Used for that soft and smooth feel, this fabric for board shorts dries fairly quickly but is not used in construction for its superior stretch. If you’re looking to do some lazy river floating, this would serve its purpose in a board short for you.
Next, we have 2-Way Stretch. This has a horizontal stretch as opposed to a 4-Way Stretch(which you’ll learn about shortly) This fabric, too, is still very comfortable for the lazy river days or for some light beginner type of sports activities. An added bonus to this fabric is it dries quite quickly.
Last, but certainly not least, we have the 4-Way Stretch fabric. With not just a clever name, this fabric will stretch from four separate directions. What does that mean? Well, it means that you can be as active as you want to be without worrying about busting out of your board shorts in front of your friends to only have them put you at the butt of their jokes for the rest of your trip. This fabric is insanely light weight and dries ridiculously fast.
One of the added perks that old school swim trunks didn’t have is the selection of different lengths. If you don’t like the 70’s short gym short look, you can choose from various lengths ranging from 19 inches to 22 inches. One thing to help those extra tall Men out there is having the option to buy a 22 inch length board short and have it fit where the average length would be on say someone who is 5’9”. Measurements are from the middle of your crotch down your leg.
